Dug this up from an old post, may help someone, but worth reading;

10 REASONS WHY SCRIPTS FAIL:
1] The script lacks a defined hero with clearly defined wants and needs.
2] The story is not fully developed.
3] Dialogue is over-written and does not contain individual voices.
4] Scene descriptions are not visual.
5] The story is not original.
6] The story lacks moral argument.
7] The story does not speak to a larger theme.
8] The characters are two dimensional.
9] No empathy is created for characters.
10] The story is not commercial.

(#10 conflicts with #5, but all in all worth taking into account.)

I'd like to but I'm incredibly busy at the moment at work (violins at the ready... long hours - 40 page BP magazine and a 76 page annual report to do both at the same time!). And I'm off on holiday in a week. Looking forward to reading the entries though.

I wrote mine as soon as the comp was announced (on the brink of suicide) and as soon as I can be bothered I'll send it.
